Department of Agriculture Chemistry

The prestigious department of Agriculture chemistry was established in the college in 1949, affiliaed to Agra University, Agra, and U.P. for undergraduate level. It was housed in the newly constructed building of Chemistry Block. When the building of Agriculture Block was constructed from the financial grants of ICAR New Delhi in 1995, the department was shifted to Agriculture Block in 1996.

The founder Head of the Department of Ag. Chemistry was Dr. Daya Ram Sharma who worked from 1949 to 1983 and raised the level of teaching and other academic activities to a great height. Dr. K.P. Singh who joined the department in the 1970s succeeded Dr. Daya Ram Sharma in 1983 and maintained and improved its performance till his retirement in 2008.

Dr. S.K.Dwivedi who had joined the department on 4rth Dec. 1985 has been the Head ot this Department since 2008.At present one post of teacher in lying vacant in the department.

Infrastructure:

The department has a well equipped laboratory with a sitting capacity of 30 students for practical classes.

Achievement:

The department has been imparting teaching of Ag. Chemistry which a compulsory subject in B.Sc. (Ag.)Part-I, Part-II and partIII. Besides teaching, the department also provided the facilities of soil testing to the local farmers during the Green Revolution.

Academic Achievements:

Has been member of RDC and Convener of Board of Studies.

1. Having additional post as associate NCC officer with effect from 08/03/1987.

2. Has been member of library committee of the college and proctorial board.

3. Worked as Assistant Superintendent and Senior Superintendent

4. Has been SRF under ICAR

5. Has been resource person FAI

Course offered:

This is four years degree program. The course offered in B.Sc. (Ag.) Agriculture Chemistry includes:

First year with semester system from 2011-2012:

Second Year: Annual System

D-292, Fundamentals of Soil Science

Third Year: Annual System

D-394, Soil Fertility and Fertilizers
