DEPARTMENT OF DAIRY SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

The Department of Dairy Science & Technology was established in 1949 with undergraduate classes in B.Sc Agriculture with a view to impart quality education to the coming generations. It encompasses all aspects of Dairy Science from Production to Consumption with special empahsis on teaching and research, and partly on activities. The department is fully supported by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The department has passed a long journey under the able leadership of Shri P.S. Malik (1960-1964), Shri S.S. Bhati (1964-1973), Dr. P.S. Malik (1973-1989), Dr. G.S. Lavania (1989-1997) and Dr. K.P.S. Sangu (1997 onwards).

Master Degree Programme (M.Sc)
This is a 2-year programme. The courses offered in M.Sc (Ag) Dairy Science & Technology include:

2. Microbiology and Fluid Milk
3. Dairy Cattle Production
4. Market Milk Technology
5. Traditional & Fremented Milk Products
6. Fat-rich & Frozen Dairy Products
7. Condensed & Dried Milk Products
8. Dairy Engineering and Plant Management
9. Research Technique in Dairy Science
10. Microbiology of Milk Products
11. Quality Assurance in Dairy Industry / Thesis
12. Analytical Technique in Diary Industry / Thesis

In-Plant Training: Each student has to undergo an in-plant training of 45 days after the examination of the first year. Certificate of satisfactory completion of the training is an obligatory requirement of the university to declare the final result.

Thesis: A student obtaining 60% or more marks in aggregate in the first year will be entitled to take thesis in place of course number 11 and 12.
