Janta Vedic college has a glorious history of 40 years during which it has grown and developed into a distinguished institute of higher education and research. The founders of this college have nourished it with their sweat and blood and the successive managers and staff members have established and maintained its high standard and grand traditions over the years. Its present President, Shri Virendra Pal Singh has been guiding its course for over a decade and every part of the college now bears the stamp of his commitment to its progress and development for achieving excellence in education and research.
Our college offers traditional undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Arts, Science and Agriculture on both Semester and Annual basis. But keeping in view the need of changing time, we have added many modern vocational courses and career oriented programmes like Industrial Chemistry, Dairy Science and Technology, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, and B.P.Ed. — both at UG and PG levels — under government-aided and self-financing schemes to provide maximum opportunities to our rural students, virtually at their doorstep. Efforts are made for regular upgradation of course curricullum to keep it in tune with the current requirement of students via job opportunities in development and private sectors.
Our college admits students not only from U.P. but also from the neigbhbouring states including Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Bihar, and Uttrannchal. Besides regular classroom teaching, laboratory work and field work, we have a system of continuous assessment of students through performance tests and terminal / internal examinations. Consequently, our students perform well in the university examinations obtaining high percentage of marks and holding good ranks in the university merit list. Many of them, after completing UG or PG courses, move to institutes of excellence like IITs, JNU, DU etc. for further studies and research occupying responsible positions in government and public sectors and national and International companies. We are proud of our alumni holding important positions in India and abroad and scaling new heights.
Our postgraduate programme departments and research centres are actively engaged in research work. There are many research fellowship of UGC, CSIR, ICAR pursuing research work in various departments for the award of Ph.D. The focus is on research publication and presentation of research papers in national and international seminars and conferences. Our teachers and research scholars contribute regularly to the reputed national and international journals of their respetive subjects. Interactions between farmers and dairy entrepreneurs and academia is encouraged at various levels by the faculties of Agriculture and Dairy Science & Technology for useful purposes.
Our college has well qualified teachers. Our teachers are invited as resourse personnel at national and international seminars, conferences and symposia in India and abroad. Many research projects have been alloted to various departments of our college by UGC, ICISR, DRDO etc. UGC-sponsored national seminars are regularly organised by our departments on relevant themes and current issues. All teachers are encouraged to participate in national and international conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops, and refresher courses and orientation programmes organised by UGC under faculty development programmes to keep up-to-date in concerned subjects.
Our college has a central library which is regularly enriched by adding new books every year purchased from departmental grants and UGC fund to cope with the frequent changes in syllabus and keep pace with fast flow of information. Besides the central library, each postgraduate department has its own departmental library.
We ensure for all-round development of our students through participation in co-curricular activities including Games & Sports, NCC, NSS, Rovers and Rangers, Debates, Quiz & Poetry Contests, etc. to enchance students creativity and inculcate leadership quality in them. Our annual college magazine PRAGATI brings the students and teachers of various disciplines on a common platform to share their ideas and display their creative talents.
Our college provides scholarship, fee concessions, and other forms of financial aids to deserving students — ST, SC, OBC, Women and other economically backward sections in particular — as per government rules.
Our foremost aim has been to remove disparity in access to higher education and for this we have distance learning programmes of IGNOU and two Study Centres in the campus for this purpose. Students are also allowed to appear at university exams as private candidates.
We have embarked on a long journey and we have miles to go to fulfill the aspirations of higher education in this rural area.
