The Department of Dairy Science & Technology was established in 1949 with under graduate classes in B.Sc Agriculture and Post graduate in Animal Husbandry and Dairying from 1960-2004 and in Dairy Science and Technology from 2003 onwards with a view to impart quality education to the coming generations. It encompasses all aspects of Dairy Science –from production to consumption –with special emphasis on teaching and research & partly on activities.
Infrastructure Development
Well-equipped labs in Dairy Chemistry, Microbiology, and Technology along with a scientifically managed LPM unit, enable high-quality practical learning.

A significant number of students secure jobs in reputed dairy industries, government departments, and research organizations immediately after completing their degrees, reflecting the department's strong academic foundation and practical exposure.
2 Robust In-Plant Training Program
Every undergraduate student undergoes a 30-day in-plant training after the second semester of the first year, ensuring industry readiness. The mandatory seminar presentation.
3. Extension & Outreach
Regular organization/Participation in Kisan Gosthies, cattle fairs, and training programs for farmers helps in technology transfer and improving rural dairy practices.

Faculty and students have received several awards and recognitions for academic excellence, research contributions, and innovation in dairy practices.

Faculty members and research scholars have consistently published numerous research papers in national and international journals, contributing to the advancement of dairy science and technology.

Short-term courses and hands-on workshops in areas such as paneer making, fermented milk products, and quality testing have been organized for both students and rural youth.
7. Women Empowerment in Dairy Sector-
The department has consistently encouraged and trained female students and local women in hygienic dairy practices, contributing to rural women's empowerment.

The department promotes indigenous dairy techniques and blending traditional wisdom with modern technology.
9. Digital Dairy Education
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the department quickly adapted to online teaching tools and digital dairy simulation modules, ensuring uninterrupted academic and practical learning.
