Janta Vedic College, Baraut, Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, a prestigious institution established in 1917, has long been a beacon of educational excellence in Western Uttar Pradesh. Rooted in a vision of holistic development, the college has significantly contributed to the academic and cultural fabric of the region. In line with this vision, the Department of Physical Education was founded in 1965, marking a major step toward promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and professional sports education among students.

Since its inception, the Department has earned a stellar reputation within C.C.S. University, Meerut, particularly through its consistent and commendable performance in inter-collegiate sports competitions. The Department has particularly excelled in Kabaddi, Wrestling, Volleyball, and Basketball, producing numerous meritorious sportspersons who have represented the college and the university with distinction.

In present times, sports like Cross-country running, Shooting, Archery, Taekwondo have also been taken by students to represent the college in various Inter-Collegiate and University competitions.

The Department was established with the following key objectives:

  • To conduct professional and socially relevant graduate teaching programmes as instructed or directed by C.C.S. University, Meerut, either independently or in collaboration with other departments, with a focus on yoga, health, and physical education.
  • To provide ample opportunities and structured guidance for students to train and participate in a wide range of sports disciplines.
  • To organize and promote training programmes that elevate the standards of Physical Education and Sports in the region.

Over the decades, the Department has grown into a cornerstone of the college's legacy, nurturing not only athletes but also physical education professionals who contribute meaningfully to schools, colleges, and community fitness initiatives.

 

 

 

The Department of Physical Education at Janta Vedic College, Baraut, is equipped with a range of modern and traditional sports infrastructure that supports both instructional and competitive training for students. These facilities reflect the college's commitment to developing well-rounded athletes and physical education professionals.

 

Gymnasium Hall
A well-maintained gymnasium hall is available within the department, equipped with essential weight-training equipment, kabaddi mats, high-jump mats, and other modern training apparatus. This indoor facility supports strength and conditioning programs essential for high-level performance across various sports.

 

 

 

Indoor Sports Facility (Under Construction)
A new indoor facility measuring 55×34 meters is currently under construction. Once completed, it will serve as a multi-sport training center, further enriching the department's capacity to host training camps, intramural competitions, and indoor championships in various disciplines such as volleyball, badminton, wrestling, and table tennis.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

400-Meter Athletic Track
The college playground houses a standard 400-meter athletics track, which serves as a training ground for track and field athletes. This facility is regularly used for college-level and intercollegiate athletic events and ensures year-round physical conditioning for students.

Wrestling Hall
Reflecting the rich wrestling heritage of Western Uttar Pradesh, a dedicated wrestling hall is located within the college campus. The hall has been a significant asset in nurturing district, state, and university-level wrestlers. Its development marked a milestone in the college's sporting history and continues to serve as a training ground for aspiring wrestlers. Hall was constructed by Airport Authority of India, Thanks to Late Ch. Ajit Singh, then Minister of Civil Aviation.

 

 

Classrooms for Theory Instruction
The department also has two dedicated classrooms for teaching the theoretical foundations of Physical Education. These classrooms are equipped for lectures, workshops, and academic discussions related to sports science, health education, yoga, biomechanics, and sports psychology, among others.

 

 

 

The Department of Physical Education, with its robust infrastructure and heritage of excellence, continues to shape generations of sportspersons and educators, fulfilling the mission of Janta Vedic College to foster academic and physical development in tandem.
